   Corporate Social Responsibility - CSR

CSR can be defined as delivering an effect on society that by its action causes society to become a better place.  Schools do this with dress down days for charity.  Some groups such as masonic orders do this in a quiet way.  Others do this with a full on razzmatazz involving lots of publicity.

JW Facilities CSR is divided into two areas.  Where we actively deliver effect by taking part in sponsored events for a chosen charity.  This year it is Walking With The Wounded (WWW).  This is a veterans charity and being an veteran myself I am fully behind WWW.    The other way of delivering a CSR effect is by running the same courses we provide for our commercial clients but at vastly discounted rates for those involved in the charity sectors.  These courses are run on an ad hoc basis.

All About Me

In the past I have had a very varied life.  I came to Yorkshire to be a teaching assistant at an outdoor pursuits centre in Giggleswick, North Yorkshire.  A great four years during which time I joined the Army Reserve which lasted for another 34 years, plus another ten and a half with the Regular Army.

Ordinary jobs included, manual labour, blue collar jobs and eventually I became a Legal Executive.  I was mobilised to go to Iraq and that should have been a year posting but I was kept on and discharged after ten and a half years.

Since that time I have qualified as a Health and Safety Consultant, a Teacher , a Duke of Edinburgh instructor and Mountain leader on top of being a BSAC Regional instructor.  I am now working part time so devote myself to my small client base delivering health and safety support, training, and advice.  I now support a couple of charities, Walking With The Wounded and Escape Lines Memorial Society.

My latest walk is below.
